School Service Programme (SSP)

There is a vital need to enhance the education of Ugandan students regarding the ever interconnections of the world and the center role that the United Nations play in promoting harmonious relations among governments and the people everywhere. United Nations Association of Uganda launched a School Service Programme to help students comprehend the complexities of the interplay between the international and national arena.

The School Service Programme is where we cooperate with secondary school in Uganda. United Nations Association of Uganda (UNAU) visits schools educating them about various aspects and Sustainable Development Goal’s (SDG’s).

The School service Programme was Launched in 2001 and has been part of UNAU’s official programme ever since. The Secondary schools involved include:

  • Kololo Senoir Secondary School.
  • Old Kampala Senior Secondary School.
  • Nakasero Senior Secondary School.
  • Kalinaabiri Secondary School.
  • Mengo Secondary School.


The School Service project is to bring forward information of the United Nations, and to heighten the awareness of the international world in the mind s of school children it has the following aims and objectives:

  • Increase the awareness of the UN and the SDG’s among the youth in secondary schools.
  • Make the United Nations and the Millennium Development Goals (SDG’s) more relevant.
  • Set up and assist United Nations (UN) clubs in secondary schools that UNAU works with.
  • Promote networking nationally and internationally.
  • The SSP is involved in a number of activities that help the youth achieve what they are supposed to, these activities are:
  • Training and distributing educational material to the youth in the schools.
  • Internal activities at schools
  • Common activities; usually UN days where the young people are educated about the SDG’s and how they can be realized to enable a better world for all.
