International Women

Each year around the world International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8. A number of events occur throughout the month of March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women and ways to develop and transform the world into a better place.
This year’s International Women’s Day was under the theme “Girl Child Education - Empowering women to enable a productive population and a solution to Uganda’s Increasing population.” commemorated at Kololo S.S.S. It was a half day event that brought together over 165 Secondary Schools and Universities in Uganda, 10 Women from Kasogi Village-Mukono district, around 5 Media Houses, 3 selected stake holders/policy makers and 5 Head Teachers.
There was presentation from the youth on girl-child education; this was in the form of music, dance and drama, exhibition of fine art drawings, crafts and testimonies form Kasogi women, where the youth were told about life changing experiences that these women had gone through.
With the presence of Media (Televisions, journalists, Newspapers and radios) the United Nations Association of Uganda (UNAU) broadcasted the youths’ voices and views to the general public.
The day was crowned by planting of two (2) commemorative trees by the invited guests.
